Weed control is the most important aspect of successful revegetation. Without weed control seedlings are unlikely to survive. In a dry finish to the season, weed control will markedly improve seedling survival over summer, and in a wet year, weed control improves growth rate over summer and into the second year.
There are several methods of weed control. The use of crop rotation, pasture topping, grazing manipulation, scalping and mulching can be combined to give an unified approach.
