Survey your local council’s use of herbicides in public places such as:

Find out:

• Where your councils sprays herbicides
• How often
• Why they spray herbicides
• When they spray herbicides
• What safety precautions are used
  • Why are these safety precautions used
  • What non-chemical options do they use for weed management
    • If not, why not
    • What policies do they have in place for herbicide use in areas frequented by children
      • If not, why not.

Survey community groups such as LandCare or CoastCare about their use of herbicides in public places using the above questions as a guide.

Compare herbicide usage of different groups and organisations.

• How do they differ?
• In what ways are they similar?
• Are there different precautionary measures used by the different groups or organisations?
• Are they targeting different weeds?
• How do their weed management methods differ?

Send a letter to your local council or community group with your sustainable weed solutions.
