The term ‘weed’ means different things to different people. Some weeds do not look particularly ‘weedy’, and may even be quite beautiful. Many students already have a good appreciation about weeds in their area.
This exercise allows students to share and confirm their existing weed knowledge.
Discuss with students how they recognised weeds in the four areas.

• A collection of weeds and other plants from the four areas • An outdoor grassy area, • A review of safety issues.
