Each student should collect one or two local weeds. As well as stems and leaves, try to collect root systems and any flowers or fruits. As soon as possible, examine the weed carefully and make an A4 sized image of the weed by drawing, photocopying, scanning it on a flatbed scanner or photographing it.
For each weed, label the stems, leaves, flowers, seeds, fruits, thorns, tubers, tendrils, and roots.
Some ideas to consider:
Has anything been eating your weed?
Does your weed look like any other plant?
Does the smell remind you of anything?
Are there any fruits?
What animals might eat them?
Don’t try them yourself, they may be very poisonous.
