Title: Statutory review of the NSW Noxious Weeds Act 1993 - issues paper

[NSW Government 13 Dec 2010] -- The Noxious Weeds Act 1993 sets out the regulatory framework for controlling noxious weeds in NSW. Weeds can have a major impact on human health, animal welfare, agricultural production and the environment. The Act establishes control mechanisms to: prevent the establishment of significant new weeds; restrict the spread of existing significant weeds; and reduce the area of existing significant weeds.

Consistent with section 76 of the Act, a review is being undertaken to determine whether the policy objectives of the Act remain valid, and whether the terms of the Act remain appropriate for securing those objectives. An Issues Paper has been prepared to facilitate the review process.
