Title: Beetles and moths as biological control agents of noxious weeds
[Shepparton News, 26 Nov 2009, Page: 6] Beetles and moths are being released into fire-affected areas as part of a plan to help win the battle against noxious weeds. Department of Sustainability and Environment fire recovery officers have collected stems of the weed English broom carrying larvae of the broom seedfeeding beetle and the broom twig-mining moth.
Pest and weeds officer Jack Harrington said the release of moths and beetles into infestations of broom plants in the Stanley State Forest would start this month.
