[DPI News 08/06/09] A new Biosecurity Strategy for Victoria been launched by DPI. Victoria has a strong record in biosecurity management but changes in climate, trade, travel, land use patterns and other factors have led us to reassess the state’s biosecurity arrangements. This whole of government strategy sets a firm foundation to guide the planning, service delivery and partnerships required to meet Victoria's future biosecurity needs and protect Victoria's economic, environmental and social assets.
The strategy will refocus and strengthen existing approaches to managing biosecurity risk by improving collaboration between government, industry and the community.
Biosecurity Victoria, in consultation with key DPI divisions, will lead the development of a whole of government implementation plan to deliver on the actions outlined in this strategy during the next 12 months.
